Plans and executes an
annual outing for Hunting Ridge parents.
Advisory
Offers counsel and advice regarding PTA activities and
issues.
After School Specials
Offers fun and educational
hour long classes to students after school on various days a number
of times throughout the year.
Aquarium
Feeds the fish and
maintains the aquarium in the atrium of our school.
Beautification
Responsible for working to
enhance the appearance outside the school. Creates and maintains
flower beds and plants. Decorates planters found at main entrance
to school.
Board Meeting Representative
Attends District 15 School
Board Meetings and reports back to PTA
Book Club
Facilitates a reading program that encourages
reading and discussion for grades 2-6. Volunteers meet with students
during lunch.
Book Fair
Plans and executes a book
fair in fall and spring. A wide variety of books are available for
Hunting Ridge families to purchase at reasonable prices.
Calendar
Produces the PTA calendar.
Calendar contains PTA, school and district events.
Cultural Arts
Provides programs for
school assemblies that enhance curriculum in an educational and
cultural manner
Dads and Donuts
Plans and executes a
donut/muffin breakfast two mornings per school year for dads and
their kids to socialize and eat together.
Directory
Produces a school directory
available to all PTA members. This directory includes student’s
names, addresses and phone numbers. It also includes school staff
information.
Environmental Education
Enhances environmental
awareness in our school with programs such as waste free lunches and
recycling
Family and Community Support
Lends a variety of support
to Hunting Ridge families experiencing crisis situations
Gym Nights/Field Days
Provides volunteers for
these recreational activities that are planned by the Hunting Ridge
physical education staff
Health and Safety
Coordinates blood-drive and
the Helping Hand program. Plans, coordinates and facilitates
programs throughout the school year that focus on student wellness
and safety.
Holiday Shop
Plans and executes
affordable holiday shopping at the school for all students
Hospitality
Provides refreshments for
various functions throughout the year. Plans and coordinates the Ice- Cream Social during Open House.
Kindergym
Assists the physical
education teacher with our kindergarten students during gym class
Kindergarten Registration & Orientation
Assists with kindergarten
registration and spring orientation for incoming kindergarten
students and parents
Labels for Education
Facilitates the collection
and tabulation of Campbell's labels, General Mills Box Tops, Tyson
labels and others. Labels are exchanged for equipment and items for
our school.
Legislation
Maintains and updates the
Hunting Ridge PTA by-laws. Disseminates legislative advocacy
material and information from National and State PTA. Encourages
local advocacy for our children
Market Day
Facilitates a monthly coop
food sale that is one of PTA’s main fundraisers
Membership
Conducts PTA membership
drive
Moms and Munchies
Plans and executes a
donut/muffin breakfast two mornings per school year for moms and
their kids to socialize and eat together.
Multicultural Fair
Plans and executes an event
to celebrate the various cultures in our school. Occurs once
every other year.
New Family Welcoming
Welcomes new students and
their families by hosting a new family orientation and by delivering
PTA information packets

winning newsletter for the families of Hunting Ridge School
PCEE Rep
Attends district meetings
regarding events throughout the Palatine community and reports
information at PTA meetings.
Parent Volunteer Committee
Compiles a list of
volunteers for different committees. Tallies volunteer hours.
Maintains volunteer bulletin board. Coordinates end of year
recognition
Picnic
Plans, coordinates and
executes all aspects of the PTA school picnic.
Picture Day
Plans, coordinates and
assists students on school photo day
Reflections
Coordinates and encourages
Hunting Ridge students to participate in music, literature,
photography and fine arts contest sponsored by National PTA. Helps
with a district showcase of student’s work
Resource Center
Recruits and trains
volunteers for the Resource Center. Organizes the Herbby Book Club
and helps with special projects in the resource center
Roller Skating
Party
Plans the annual roller skating party for
students, parents and staff.
Room Parent Coordinators
Staffs each classroom with
room parents. Conducts an informational meeting with guidelines for
all room parents
Scholarship
Informs our members of
Illinois PTA scholarships. Lends support to Shop & Share days for
the scholarship fund. Facilitates the selection of PTA award
recipients.

Coordinates activities and
volunteers for the sixth grade end of year activities
SPARK – Special Education Parents Accessing
Resources and Knowledge
A parental support group
for children with special needs Works to promote understanding,
tolerance and acceptance of children with different disabilities.
Spirit Wear
Coordinates selection and
sale of Hunting Ridge apparel
Teacher Appreciation
Provides recognition and
support for the educational excellence of Hunting Ridge teachers and
staff during the spring “Teacher Appreciation Week”
Ways and Means
Plans and executes fall
fundraiser. Coordinates school supply kit sale.
Web Development
Serves as webmaster for the
Hunting Ridge PTA website. Responsible for creating, maintaining and
updating the site on a regular basis.
Workroom
Organizes the supplies for
the PTA Workroom. Coordinates a volunteer base of PTA parents to
assist teachers in the workroom by running copies, creating books,
laminating resources and other functions needed by the teachers
Yearbook
Compiles and creates
yearbook for Hunting Ridge students. Organizes school pictures and
takes pictures for school events. A sixth grade student committee
traditionally helps with the yearbooks creation.
