The 2008-2009 theme is “WOW”
Reflections
Program
The Reflections Program is an annual arts program sponsored by
National PTA that allows more than 500,000 children and youth to
express themselves through musical composition, photography, visual
arts, and literature. Information comes home to students at Hunting
Ridge via backpack, newsletter and this website.
Children are invited to
participate in the Reflections program by creating visual art,
photography, literature or musical composition projects as they
relate to the annual theme, which changes each year.
The Reflections program gives an opportunity for kids to express
themselves through the arts and be recognized for their effort. The
recognition comes from displays at school, participation ribbons and
parties, along with the possibility of advancing from their school
to the Council, District, State and National levels. Projects
recognized at the State and National levels continue being
recognized in year long traveling art shows!
How Can I Participate?
Reflections is a program that you can be
involved in as much or as little as you want. The committee actively
volunteers from September (with in-school promotions) through
November (with collecting and preparing projects for forwarding to
the Council level.) There is also time spent on communication of
advancing projects and returning projects to the students.
Reflections responsibilities end with a participation party in the
spring.
Reflections is a very
rewarding committee to volunteer for. The Hunting Ridge students
look forward to it every year and many begin their projects during
the summer months by gathering inspiration from vacations and time
spent at home with family and friends. The children want to
participate in Reflections! In many instances, once kids have
participated they tend to participate each year and each year learn
more about themselves and the materials they are working with. The
pride on their faces when they turn in their completed
projects, is priceless.
